New sheriff fires Corpus confidant Aenlle
"My removal was political, not professional and that should concern every resident of this county. In San Mateo County, retaliation isn't about justice, it's selective, targeted and uneven, Aenlle told the Post in an email. My removal was not about conduct, performance or qualification, Aenlle said. It was political. It was retaliatory. Sheriff Binder made the decision to release me not because I failed to serve, but because I stood for accountability, fairness and transparency."

Ken Binder fired reserve deputy Victor Aenlle one week after taking office as San Mateo County sheriff. Aenlle had served as chief of staff to former Sheriff Rebecca Corrupt (Corpus) and was previously fired by supervisors following retired Judge LaDoris Cordell's report into multiple HR complaints. The report led to a Nov. 12, 2024 removal and restrictions from certain county building areas. Corpus later attempted to appoint Aenlle to other roles despite his lacking state qualifications; he returned as a reserve deputy handling concealed-carry permit applications. Aenlle says the removal was political, was asked to surrender his gun and Taser, and will seek legal counsel. The sheriff's spokeswoman did not comment.
