Tom Perez has joined the legal team of Sheriff Christina Corpus in her lawsuit against San Mateo County supervisors, aiming to prevent her removal from office. Perez, with a distinguished background in civil rights and politics, will appear in federal court. He emphasizes the importance of fairness in the case and claims bias from two of the supervisors involved in the investigation. The process established under Measure A allows a retired judge to rule on the issue, but supervisors can still disregard the judge's decision.
"Oh, there's a broader principle that is as old as the republic here. It's the principle of fairness," said Perez.
"The five-person board is the investigator, the prosecutor, the judge, the jury, and potentially the executioner in this case."
"Two out of the five supervisors have already said she's guilty," Perez said. "They are biased."
