"BERKELEY - A man died Wednesday afternoon from injuries suffered when he was struck by an Amtrak train in West Berkeley, authorities said. The name of the man, believed to be in his 30s, was not immediately released pending confirmation of his identity and notification of his family. The fatal collision happened about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Bancroft Way and Fourth Street."
"Initial reports were that the man was on the tracks when he was hit by an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train traveling from Oakland to Sacramento, authorities said. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. None of the 34 train passengers and crew members were injured. Amtrak said its police force is working with Berkeley police in the investigation."
