Jim-Denny's diner in downtown Sacramento, operational for over 85 years, has closed permanently following disputes with the landlord. Owner N'Gina Guyton revealed that an initial offer to sell the building was rescinded in favor of a more profitable sale as a package deal. Despite a court appeal based on a verbal agreement, the landlord prevailed, requiring Guyton to leave by the end of July. The announcement prompted emotional responses from the community, highlighting the diner's significant role in local culture and culinary history.
"I hate hearing about the possible future of Jim Denny's, it makes my heart sick, but we had a damn good time," Guyton wrote. "Sorry to see she might not make it another 91 years at that location. I'm sure the possible future apartment buildings will look super cute."
Landlord initially offered to sell the Jim-Denny's building, but ultimately decided to package it with property next door for larger profit, leading to eviction notice.
