"Tom Girardi built celebrity status and lured in victims by falsely portraying himself as a 'Champion of Justice,'" U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said. "In reality, he was a Robin-Hood-in-reverse, stealing from the needy to support a lavish, Hollywood lifestyle."
Kamon's attorney, Michael Severo, stated that Kamon entered a guilty plea because it was "in his best interest," emphasizing the difficult legal circumstances surrounding the case.
Kamon, who supervised Girardi Keese's accounting department, was in charge of paying the firm's expenses at Girardi's direction, leading to the prolific fraud.
According to prosecutors, Kamon worked with Girardi to defraud clients owed settlement money from 2010 to December 2020, significantly impacting the lives of those severely hurt.
