A May 27–28 poll of 1,000 likely voters found 28% support for Democrat Xaiver Becerra, 22% for Democrat Tom Steyer, and 21% for Republican Steve Hilton. The sample included about 50% Democrats, 27% Republicans, and 23% independents, with a margin of error of ±3 percentage points. Becerra gained 9 points since a mid-May Emerson/Inside California Politics poll, while Steyer rose 5 points and Hilton rose 4. Chad Bianco polled at 12%, Katie Porter and Matt Mahan at about 5% each, Antonio Villaraigosa at 2%, and Tony Thurmond at 1%. About 5% of respondents were undecided.
