Councilmember Traci Park emphasized the urgent need for accountability and improvement in water delivery for firefighting, highlighting the recent water supply failures in Pacific Palisades.
Park pointed out that the Santa Ynez Reservoir has been out of commission for months, which significantly hampered firefighting efforts during the recent Palisades fire.
DWP spokesperson Ellen Cheng mentioned that the investigation ordered by Gov. Newsom will assist in assessing the water systems' capability to aid in wildfire situations.
Park's motion for weekly updates between the DWP and the L.A. Fire Department aims to ensure first responders are fully apprised of any water resource gaps.
