Iconic highway into Yosemite closes due to slide
Briefly

A significant rockslide has closed approximately two miles of state Route 140, a key access route into Yosemite National Park, due to wet weather conditions. Caltrans announced the closure between Briceburg and El Portal, warning that it will be a long-term situation as crews need to clear debris and assess the hillside safety. Alternative routes are advised, with impacts on bus travels to nearby lodges. Local hospitality managers express concern about effectively notifying incoming guests about the closure.
Our concern is for people that are arriving today and getting the notification out to our arrivals that Highway 140, about 3 miles west of Cedar Lodge, is closed due to a rockslide.
Motorists should avoid this route and seek alternative highways (SR-41, SR-120) into Yosemite National Park.
We do have it closed from Forrester Road through Incline out to Briceburg... that's going to be a long-term, extended closure.
Our teams go out and inspect the hillside prior to these meteorological events to make sure that things are in good order.
