He went to Union City looking for a 'sugar baby.' Instead, she tried to rob him, police say
"The incident occurred in August 2024, after the victim arranged to pay $600 to a woman he met on a website that promises to link "sugar babies" and "sugar daddies," according to police. Instead, when the man arrived at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union City and attempted to bring the woman up to his room, she pulled a gun on him, according to police."
"The victim allegedly lunged at the robber, thwarting the robbery, but she still made off with $40 he'd given her as a downpayment, police said. Authorities allege that the woman was with two men who acted as "lookouts." The men have not been charged. Police are investigating whether she was also responsible for a strikingly similar incident in Newark, which occurred this past August."
"UNION CITY - A Hayward woman has been arrested and charged with attempted robbery, more than a year after she allegedly pulled a gun on a man she met on a "sugar daddy" website, according to court records. The woman was released from jail without bail and is next due in court on Dec. 11, according to court records. She has not yet entered a plea."
Authorities arrested a 22-year-old Hayward woman and charged her with attempted robbery and personal firearm use for an August 2024 incident. A man arranged to pay $600 to meet a woman from a sugar-dating website and met her at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union City. When he tried to bring her to his room, she allegedly pulled a gun; the victim lunged at her, preventing the robbery, though she took $40 as a downpayment. Authorities allege two men acted as lookouts and have not been charged. Police are probing a similar Newark incident. The woman was released without bail and faces court on Dec. 11.
