Genova Deli closing Walnut Creek store after owners blame economy for downsizing decision
"Genova Delicatessen closed its last Walnut Creek location on Wednesday after 58 years of business in the city."
"I heard it was their last day today. I wanted to purchase something to say goodbye. Maybe see some of my old friends in there."
"The deli's Napa location will remain open and Genova frozen raviolis, sold in many local supermarkets, will still be available."
Genova Delicatessen closed its last Walnut Creek location on Wednesday after 58 years of business in the city. The prior Treat Boulevard location closed a few months earlier. The owners blame the economy for the Walnut Creek closure. A few longtime customers waited outside well before opening to purchase items and to say goodbye. Customer Dante Marchetti of Walnut Creek said he wanted to buy something to say goodbye and maybe see some old friends. The deli's Napa location will remain open. Genova frozen raviolis sold in many local supermarkets will continue to be available.
