A fire severely damaged a newly-installed turf football field at Mt. Diablo High School in Concord over the weekend. Concord police and Contra Costa fire officials responded Sunday morning and extinguished the blaze. Surveillance footage reportedly showed several people, possibly juveniles, setting off fireworks on the field the night before, which may or not may not have led to the fire.
