
"ANTIOCH - A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle, and police said they arrested the person suspected of driving on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. The collision happened Wednesday at the intersection of A Street and W. 18th Street about 6:15 p.m. A 64-year-old man died from his injuries Friday at a hospital. Authorities did not identify him immediately Friday, pending notification of relatives."
"In a statement, Capt. Matthew Koch said officers found the man down in the road and provided medical care until Contra Costa County Fire Protection District emergency personnel arrived and rushed him away in an ambulance. Koch said the vehicle that hit the man had left the scene by the time police arrived. Witnesses later provided them with the car's description and license plate numbers, and officers found the car in the 4400 block of Deerfield Drive."

Police do not believe alcohol or speeding were factors.
