A vehicle crashed about 200 feet down an embankment in Santa Rosa's Fountaingrove area in the early morning hours. Fire Department crews were dispatched shortly after 2 a.m. to a report of a single-vehicle collision near Hansford Court. Initial responders had difficulty locating the vehicle because fog and the vehicle's position off the hillside impeded the search. After roughly 20 minutes, crews from Fire Station 5 returned and began a hands-on search. Firefighters conducted a low-angle rope rescue using a specialized basket to extricate the driver. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
