Firefighters were called to rescue a dog trapped on a rocky ledge above high cliffs on Highway 36 in California. The pup was about 20 feet below the top of the Pigeon Cliffs, and due to the challenging location, first responders reached out for additional assistance. A firefighter was lowered to the dog using a rope system, secured it in a rescue device, and together they were safely brought to the ground. The dog was checked at a veterinary hospital and found to be uninjured before being transferred to an animal shelter.

The Lassen County Sheriff's Department then took the dog to the Lassen Veterinary Hospital, where staff determined it was not injured.
