On Thursday afternoon a shooting occurred on eastbound Highway 24 near Old Tunnel Road in Oakland. A vehicle pulled to the right shoulder and the occupant was not struck by gunfire. Witnesses provided a suspect vehicle description that continued east into Contra Costa County. Minutes later a suspect crashed into the center divider on I-680 in Walnut Creek, exited, and was taken into custody; a firearm was recovered. Two additional vehicles sustained damage but occupants were not struck. On Friday morning a separate incident on eastbound I-80 near the I-880 connector began on the Bay Bridge and appeared motivated by mutual road rage, and one driver suffered a head injury from shrapnel.
