The Borel Fire in Kern County has burned just shy of 60,000 acres since igniting late last month. With containment now over 90%, firefighters have released their first comprehensive look at the damage.
According to a Kern County Fire report, more than 200 structures have burned, including 63 homes, 55 mobile homes, and 34 motor homes, while over 8,000 structures were saved.
Heather Carruthers, whose ranch was among the properties destroyed, expressed her determination: 'There's no question. This is our home.' Her family lost their herd, with only one bull surviving.
Attorney General Rob Bonta announced California's lawsuit against Providence St. Joseph Hospital, alleging it violated laws by denying a pregnant patient emergency abortion care despite life-threatening conditions.
