On May 1 at about 5:55 p.m., officers from the CHP's Solano Area responded to reports of a possible shooting on eastbound I-80 east of the Carquinez Bridge; the victim was not injured. Special Investigations Unit detectives took over the investigation and used Flock Safety cameras to identify Cameron Michael-Tanner Jones, 31, of Vacaville. On Aug. 21 at about 7 a.m., the Golden Gate Division's Warrant Service Team arrested Jones at his Vacaville residence and detectives seized two firearms during a search of the home. Officers booked Jones into the Solano County Jail on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. CHP Golden Gate Division Chief Don Goodbrand praised detectives for their dedication in apprehending the suspect and removing a violent criminal from the freeways.
