California's Capitol, legislative offices reopen after 'unfounded' threat and evacuation
Briefly

The California Highway Patrol's Capitol Protection Section said the threat was 'thoroughly investigated and determined to be unfounded.' All three buildings have been cleared and deemed safe.
Law enforcement conducted a thorough assessment and sweep of the Capitol Complex. No suspicious items were located following the search, allowing the buildings to reopen.
Around 9 a.m., California State Parks tour guide Joe Wolfenden was told he and others needed to leave the building immediately due to a threat, which is 'very uncommon'.
The threat was made by email, and while the nature of it was not disclosed, officials confirmed the buildings were reopened safely by 1 p.m.
