A hefty snowstorm is currently battering California's Sierra Nevada amid this week's atmospheric river, causing closures and delays at popular ski resorts across the region.
June Mountain Ski Resort announced Thursday afternoon that it has closed for the day due to 'deteriorating weather conditions.'
'This is a big storm - the kind the Sierras are known for,' Kirkwood wrote on Instagram. 'These systems move in fast and intense, bringing big amounts of snow in a short period of time.'
