"Kinzenbaw was most recently returned from parole with a new sentence from San Diego County on Sept. 13, 2023. He was sentenced to five years, four months for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury as a second striker under the state's three-strikes law, as well as evading or attempting to evade a peace officer while driving recklessly as a second striker."
A 27-year-old inmate was stabbed with an improvised weapon and died Wednesday at California State Prison, Solano. The attack began at 7:40 a.m. in the Facility B recreation yard when inmates Christian M. Dumas and Stephen J. Archer II attacked Brenton G. Kinzebaw. Staff responded immediately, used chemical agents to halt the assault, restrained the attackers, and initiated life-saving measures before Kinzenbaw was pronounced dead at 8:15 a.m. Officers recovered one improvised weapon and reported no other injuries. Dumas and Archer were placed in restricted housing pending investigations by the prison Investigative Services Unit and the Solano County District Attorney, with the Office of the Inspector General notified and the Solano County Coroner to determine the official cause of death. Kinzenbaw had recently been returned from parole with a new San Diego County sentence.
