
"A news release said inmates Christian M. Dumas, 24, and Stephen J. Archer II, 38, were attacking inmate Brenton G. Kinzebaw. Brenten G. Kinzenbaw (COURTESY CDCR) Staff immediately responded, utilizing chemical agents to quell the attack, the release explains. Officers immediately restrained Dumas and Archer and removed them from the yard, initiated life-saving measures on Kinzenbaw and activated 911. Kinzenbaw was transported to the institution's triage and treatment area where he was pronounced deceased by prison medical staff at 8:15 a.m."
"Kinzenbaw was most recently returned from parole with a new sentence from San Diego County on Sept. 13, 2023. He was sentenced to five years, four months for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury as a second striker under the state's three-strikes law, as well as evading or attempting to evade a peace officer while driving recklessly as a second striker."
At 7:40 a.m., staff at California State Prison, Solano responded to an attack in the Facility B recreation yard where inmates Christian M. Dumas, 24, and Stephen J. Archer II, 38, attacked inmate Brenton G. Kinzebaw. Staff used chemical agents, restrained Dumas and Archer, provided life-saving measures and activated 911. Kinzenbaw was transported to triage and pronounced deceased at 8:15 a.m. Officers recovered one improvised weapon. Dumas and Archer were placed in restricted housing pending investigation by the prison Investigative Services Unit and the Solano County District Attorney. The Office of the Inspector General was notified and the Solano County Coroner will determine the cause of death. Kinzenbaw had been returned from parole on Sept. 13, 2023, after a San Diego County sentence.
