Calif. county fair forced to close early after patrons start brawling
"The Monterey County Fair was forced to close early Saturday night after a number of large fights broke out on the property. On Saturday evening, Monterey police said they received reports that someone had been shot at the county fair. Officers already on-site were unable to locate a shooter or victims, but they soon encountered multiple fights "in the carnival and adjacent areas," the department said in a statement."
"because of "health and safety" concerns, the Monterey County Fair wrote on social media. "The decision was made out of an abundance of caution, prioritizing the well-being of our guests, staff, and community," the statement continued. Fair organizers said Saturday's ticketholders can use those tickets on Sunday or Monday; if they hadn't scanned into the gates yet on Saturday, they can reach out to the fair for a refund instead."
