'Blood all over': Witnesses describe seeing victims walk out of home after Hayward explosion
""The younger girl had blood all over the face. She was in complete shock. I think there might have been something with her arm being dislocated because she had kind of like an awkward position. They looked in shock and easily that the explosion took out their ear drum - I assume - because people were trying to talk to them and they were not really hearing it," said Oscar Vazquez, a resident in the area."
"Paramedics arrived and confirmed six people were taken to hospitals nearby. "There were people with different extends to their injuries. Three were considered immediately transfer and three were minor injuries," said Ryan Nishimoto, Deputy Chief for the Alameda County Fire Department."
"At the scene, sheriff's deputies began to move people out of the blast zone for safety. "When they arrived here, they immediately started looking at - okay, they saw a hazardous area and they started getting people and moving them to safety and then they started organizing rides to hospitals," said Roberto Morales, PIO"
A ruptured gas line caused an explosion at a Hayward building Thursday, resulting in at least six injuries. Two women in pajamas exited the home with severe physical injuries and received immediate assistance from neighbors and paramedics. Witnesses described one younger woman with facial bleeding, shock, a possibly dislocated arm, and apparent hearing loss; an older woman had difficulty walking and needed help away from debris. Paramedics confirmed six people were transported to nearby hospitals, with three transferred immediately and three sustaining minor injuries. Eden Hospital reported one patient remains in serious condition. Sheriff deputies evacuated the blast zone and coordinated transport to hospitals.
