Stephen Cloobeck, a billionaire, has ended his campaign for California governor and endorsed Bay Area Congressman Eric Swalwell. Both Cloobeck and Swalwell appeared on CNN to announce the decision. Cloobeck said he was leaving the race because the most qualified person in the state is now running for governor and declared that Swalwell will be the greatest leader of the state. Cloobeck added that had Swalwell not entered the contest, he would have remained a candidate. Cloobeck is the first former candidate in the governor's race to endorse another active candidate.
