Lynsi Snyder, heiress to the In-N-Out fortune, is moving to Tennessee due to challenges in raising her family and conducting business in California. She has four children and plans to establish her family near a new office being built in Franklin, TN. Snyder noted difficulties in California include rising crime, which led to the closure of In-N-Out's Oakland location, and strict COVID restrictions in San Francisco that her company resisted. Despite her affection for Northern California, she believes living there has become increasingly difficult for families and businesses.
She explained during a new episode of Allie Beth Stuckey's 'Relatable' podcast that it's 'not easy' living and working in California anymore.
Snyder called attention to rising crime, which prompted In-N-Out to close its Oakland location in March 2024—the first time the company has shut down a restaurant in its decades-long history.
She said, 'There's a lot of great things about California, but raising a family is not easy here. Doing business, it's not easy here now.'
Snyder expressed that Oakland had become too 'dangerous' for In-N-Out's staff to continue working safely.
