
"Police believe that the man, identified as Courtney Alford, could've been there for hours, as early as 3 a.m., before a resident reported seeing him leave through a back door at 6 a.m. Security footage showed that Alford allegedly went in and out of the house multiple times, at one point coming back in different clothes and a ski mask, Berkeley officials said. While in the house, Alford allegedly stole food and underwear from a women's room and watched women in the communal showers."
"Alford was arrested in Castro Valley, and police subsequently searched his home, where they found an assault rifle and more than 900 rounds of ammunition. He faces several charges, including burglary, prowling, invading privacy, possessing a firearm as a felon, possessing ammunition as a felon, and unlawful entry. Alford was also accused in January 2024 of "lewd acts with a child" in a separate case in Alameda County, the Berkeley Scanner reported."
