Bay Area father arrested on suspicion of DUI months after crash that injured him and his 3 sons
"A Santa Rosa father was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of driving under the influence during a June crash that led to serious injuries for him and his three sons, police said. A toxicology screening revealed that Timothy Norman, 45, had drugs in his system during a collision June 2 on West Third Street in Santa Rosa that injured Norman and his three sons, ages 5, 11 and 12, Santa Rosa police said in a Tuesday news release."
"During their investigation into the crash, Santa Rosa police determined that Norman, who was driving a red Honda Odyssey minivan, had been trying to pass an eastbound city-owned pickup truck as West Third Street narrowed to one lane near Arboleda Drive. The right front of the Honda struck the rear left side of the truck, sending the minivan into the center median, where it hit two trees."
Timothy Norman, 45, was arrested at his Santa Rosa home on suspicion of driving under the influence after a June 2 collision on West Third Street that severely injured him and his three sons, ages 5, 11 and 12. A toxicology screening detected drugs in Norman’s system, though police did not identify the substances. Police say Norman attempted to pass an eastbound city-owned pickup as the street narrowed, causing his red Honda Odyssey to hit the truck and then strike trees in the center median. The truck driver was uninjured. Norman faces suspected felony DUI causing injury and three counts of felony child endangerment with injury, was booked on $100,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.
