Ronnie Dean Stout II, 43, waived his right to a preliminary hearing after pleading not guilty to arson, accused of igniting the Park Fire near Chico.
The Park Fire, ignited on July 24, devastated 429,603 acres in Northern California, destroyed 700 structures, and led to evacuations in four counties.
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey mentioned that Stout was intoxicated at the time of his arrest when he allegedly pushed a burning car down an embankment.
Stout faces serious charges with enhancements due to prior convictions, potentially resulting in a life sentence under California's three-strikes law if convicted.
