A Hartman Creek Road resident was arrested for an unauthorized burn barrel that spread uncontrolled, igniting nearly 4,400 square feet of nearby forestland and vehicles.
The property owner had previously been educated on burn rules and cautioned against starting fires after past incidents at the same location.
Cal Fire officials stated that California law prohibits burning garbage that is not natural vegetation, and no burn permit was filed for the incident.
Authorities noted that calm winds and the fire's proximity to an access road helped prevent a more devastating disaster from occurring.
