'An outrage': Calif. father accused of killing baby abused another child

Seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro died after injuries that prosecutors say resulted from prolonged child abuse. Authorities charged both parents with murder and lying to police after questioning their Aug. 14 accounts of a stranger knocking the mother unconscious while she changed the infant in a Big 5 parking lot. Surveillance footage and statement inconsistencies prompted investigators to suspect foul play and the parents later stopped cooperating. The father, Jake Haro, has a 2018 conviction for willful child abuse that left a previous infant with broken bones, a brain hemorrhage and a skull fracture and bedridden with permanent injuries. Prosecutors criticized a judge for suspending that sentence.
The filing in this case reflects our belief that baby Emmanuel was abused, a victim of child abuse over time and that eventually because of that abuse, he succumbed to those injuries,
