Brothers John and Patrick Terstegge serve in the Marin County Fire Department and are currently assigned to a mutual aid strike team fighting the Salt Fire in Fresno County. The Salt Fire has burned approximately 17,000 acres and crews are integrated into local plans as needed. The brothers grew up in San Rafael and together have about 35 years of fire service experience, with many high-school friends also in the fire service. John values Patrick's calm decision-making on engine and bulldozer crews. The siblings report no rivalry and emphasize teamwork and appreciation for community support.
