Germany's national statistics body, Destatis, has experienced significant tech issues that have impeded access to vital economic data for over four months.
Robin Winkler, chief German economist at Deutsche Bank, expressed frustration, stating, "We have been flying blind for months and have no good understanding what is going on in the service sector."
The absence of key economic data during turbulent times raises concerns among economists, with one bank remarking that Germany's economy has been "staggering between hope and despair."
Despite the tech challenges, Destatis claims that the calculations made in the past few months remain of good quality, indicating confidence in the remaining data.
