Salesforce AI buffet won't stay all-you-can-eat forever
"Salesforce announced the Agentic Enterprise License Agreement (AELA) last October. It creates an all-you-can-eat approach to buying and consuming AI agents at a capped cost, and accompanies existing consumption-based and flexible credit models."
"Gartner believes that these are going to be converted into defined quantity contracts at the end of the agreement," she said."
"There does need to be some internal scrutiny around that, and ensuring that there's also value aligned with the usage and that customers are ready for that. Value is not necessarily being measured effectively at this point, so this is certainly an area that organizations need to pay attention to."
AELA (Agentic Enterprise License Agreement) offers an all-you-can-eat purchase model for AI agents at a capped cost alongside consumption-based and flexible credit models. Customers with unlimited AI access must clarify contract duration and exit terms because AELAs are likely to convert into defined-quantity contracts at renewal. Defined-quantity renewals can produce unpredictable cost increases unless renewal price caps and protections are negotiated. Organizations need to monitor agent usage, align usage with measurable value, and implement internal scrutiny to prepare for contract transitions. Short-term vendor losses on AELAs may feed longer-term customer monetization strategies.
