Real terms average pay lower in most UK local authorities than in 2008, TUC finds
Briefly

Real terms average pay in the UK is lower than it was in 2008 in almost two-thirds of local authorities. The TUC estimates the average worker would be £10,400 a year better off if wages had grown at their pre-crisis trend.
The TUC blames austerity measures imposed by the Conservatives for the slow wage growth, pointing out that wages started to rise after the 2008 crash but regressed with public spending cuts.
The TUC criticizes successive Tory governments for one of the worst records for pay growth in developed economies, with UK wages growing at an average annual rate of only 0.2% post-2008.
