The unions are demanding a minimum monthly wage of 494,000 naira (around $330 or 300), up from the current 30,000 naira a month.
Nigeria's Minister of Information expressed concern that the proposed wage hike would lead to an annual wage bill of 9.5 trillion Naira ($6.3 billion) for the Federal Government.
