Bruce Sankey died at age 82. He was born in Akron, Ohio, and grew up in Kingman and Phoenix, Arizona. He joined the U.S. Army in 1962 and served nearly three years. Sankey graduated from Wichita State University and began journalism as a student newspaper writer. His newspaper career included roles at The Wichita Eagle, The Memphis Commercial Appeal, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and The Arizona Republic. He served as Deputy Assistant Director for the Arizona Department of Commerce, edited and published BUSRide magazine, and became founding editor of Bus & Motorcoach News at UMA. Colleagues praised his unique perspective and enduring influence.
