Jessica Hoppe built a career in law, government affairs, and luxury travel before leading The World Residences at Sea. She moved from private practice to a general counsel role, served as SVP of government affairs and PR at a resort company, and joined Crystal Cruises in 2017 for ship-based experience. She joined The World in 2022 as general counsel and VP of strategic alignment, became chief administrative officer, and became president and CEO in June 2024. She spends about 75% of her time on land in Florida and 25% aboard the ship. Her typical home morning begins at 5:30 a.m., checking WhatsApp and email for urgent ship messages, addressing immediate issues, walking the dog, and preparing her three children, ages 11, 9, and 7, for school.
I graduated from law school and joined a private practice before moving to New York in 2007. I then transitioned into a general counsel role. Over the next decade, I also served as the SVP of government affairs and PR for a resort company. In 2017, I joined Crystal Cruises as general counsel, which introduced me to the luxury travel space and gave me my first exposure to ship-based operations.
In 2022, I joined The World as general counsel and VP of strategic alignment. A year later, I was promoted to chief administrative officer, and by June 2024, I was the president and CEO. About 75% of my time is spent on land in Florida with my family, and 25% is spent aboard the ship. My stays last for about 10 working days, but there are times when my stay is extended, like when we sailed to Antarctica.
