Briefly

Vaughn prefers to use off days for reflection. He reminded his team of the importance of truth and transparency - two critical things that the Nets needed as a collective to survive this season. He also spoke of the team's high usage of EGBs, or energy generating behaviors. That includes freedom of choice, the mental toughness necessary to accept criticism, and also a player's ability to keep their nerve no matter the situation.
With the Nets, Vaughn wanted to establish an environment where players, fellow coaches and members of the front office could speak their unfiltered truths without fear of punishment or retaliation from those around them - perhaps something that was not possible in the Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, James Harden era, and all of the internal frustration that came with it.
