Nets rookie Ben Saraf out at least 10 days with ankle sprain after G League setback
"I think he [Jordi] wants more on the defensive side,"
"I think the last two games I had a couple of breakdowns on defense. So, it's really important for the team. I think this is the main thing."
"I feel like I'm a capable defensive player, I think I just need a little more focus on some possessions."
Ben Saraf suffered a left ankle sprain in Long Island’s game and will be reevaluated in 10 days. Saraf and rookies Nolan Traore and Danny Wolf were recalled from the G League. The 26th overall pick opened the season as Brooklyn’s starting point guard but struggled, averaging 3.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 21.7% overall and 16.7% from three. Saraf has largely fallen out of the rotation, logging only two brief appearances after Nov. 3 as Terance Mann and rookie Egor Demin assumed playmaking duties. The 19-year-old has a 133.5 defensive rating, lowest on the roster, and has acknowledged defensive breakdowns. In four G League games he averaged 14.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting 46.5% from the field and produced a 20-point bench debut for Long Island. Brooklyn remains optimistic about his size, tempo control and pick-and-roll feel.
