Nets can't overcome lackluster first quarter, LeBron James' 40 points in loss to Lakers

Two days after tying an NBA record for most three-pointers in a half, the Nets opened with blanks against the Lakers.
James, 39, finished with 40 points, seven rebounds and five assists while shooting 13-for-17 from the field.
Thomas cut the lead to 90-82 with a three-pointer to open the fourth. But James answered with three-pointers on consecutive possessions.
