Sacramento Kings assistant Jordi Fernandez has emerged as the Nets' preferred choice to replace Jacque Vaughn as head coach.
Fernandez, 41, was viewed as one of the better assistant coaches in the NBA, with experience coaching in the G League and on NBA staffs.
He has served as head coach of Canada's men's national team and will continue coaching the Kings through the Play-In Tournament.
If finalized, this will be the fourth head coaching hire under GM Sean Marks since moving to Brooklyn and the seventh since 2012.
