Woman steps into 'scalding water' at Yellowstone, suffers severe burns
Briefly

The unidentified woman, 60, from New Hampshire, burned her leg near the Mallard Lake Trailhead at Old Faithful after breaking through a thin crust over scalding water, leading to severe burns.
Because the park is positioned on volcanic terrain, waters can reach scalding 400-degree temperatures that have killed more than 20 people in the past, making strict safety rules necessary.
'In thermal areas, boardwalks take you to amazing places, protect the park, and keep you safe,' said Linda Veress, emphasizing the importance of adhering to designated paths.
This thermal injury is the first documented case this year in Yellowstone, with officials reminding visitors about the dangers of venturing off-boardwalks.
