Local Council Member Alexa Avilés expressed concern over the repeated incidents, stating, "This evidence warehouse is not being properly managed nor that systems have been put in place to prevent fires."
The FDNY reported that lithium-ion batteries in e-bikes are particularly prone to catching fire, especially when damaged or improperly stored.
