"Lifeguard recruitment for next summer is already in full swing, and we're asking all New Yorkers to spread the word about this incredible opportunity to serve the city by safeguarding swimmers at our beaches and pools," said NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue.
NYC Parks has increased seasonal lifeguard wages to $22 per hour, and returning lifeguards are eligible for a $1,000 bonus if they work during peak season.
The lifeguard qualifying process includes a swim test and vision exam, and NYC Parks offers a free Swim Prep program, for applicants requiring extra preparation to improve their swim speed, endurance and stroke technique.
With increased wages and modifications to make the certification test more accessible, there's never been a better time to join our lifeguard ranks," according to NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue.
