Suspect arrested for stabbing Brooklyn roommate to death during fight
"After initially telling police he "did not do anything," Boyd admitted he and the victim got into an argument inside their apartment and claimed victim struck him in the head several times with a broomstick, prosecutors said during the suspect's arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court Sunday."
"Boyd told officers he fell to the ground and then jumped up and stabbed the victim with a knife that he then hid near a bed in the living room, prosecutors said. Police found a knife in the living room near a mattress and took another knife from Boyd after he was taken into custody."
"Surveillance footage from the scene showed the victim leaving the apartment with blood on his shirt and later Boyd leaving the apartment with a woman, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors stated that Boyd identified himself in surveillance footage from the scene."
""There is the recovery of a weapon and the defendant's statement which makes this a very simple case," Assistant District Attorney Ari Rottenberg said in court."
A 27-year-old man in Brooklyn faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon after a fatal stabbing in an apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The victim was stabbed in the chest around 7:40 a.m. Saturday and later died after collapsing outside the building. Police said the suspect initially told them he “did not do anything,” then admitted that an argument inside the apartment escalated when the victim struck him with a broomstick. The suspect said he fell, got up, stabbed the victim with a knife, and hid the knife near a bed in the living room. Police recovered a knife near a mattress and found another knife after custody. Surveillance footage showed the victim leaving with blood and the suspect leaving with a woman, and prosecutors said the suspect identified himself in the footage.
