Bartenders from seven Bay Ridge bars created vodka-infused drinks for the competition called "The Merchant" using Fort Hamilton Distillery vodka, aiming for a People's Choice winner and an overall champion.
Judges, including William McNeely, looked for well-balanced drinks with layers of flavor, ensuring no single taste overpowers the others, reminiscent of his experience in food.
The winning drink would be available in all seven participating bars, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Merchants of Third Avenue (MOTA) for the neighborhood's beautification projects.
The event aimed to raise around $10,000 for MOTA, showcasing a community-oriented kickoff to summer and reviving the spirit of old-time Bay Ridge gathering places.
