CITYWIDE - INDEX CRIMES OVERALL dropped 4% citywide in June 2024 compared to the same month last year, continuing a six-month trend, NYPD reported Wednesday...Index crimes include murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny - auto.
The bad news: reported rapes shot up 59.1%, and there was a 137% increase in hate crime incidents (the majority characterized as anti-Jewish). In addition, felony assaults were up 6.7%.
