NYC woman who fatally tortured special-needs teen learns fate
Briefly

The tragic case of Jallen McConnie, a special-needs teenager tortured to death by his cousin Johnette Booker, highlights horrific abuse and neglect. Mykarsha Rogers, Jallen's sister, expressed her deep sorrow in court, stating she misses him daily. Booker, sentenced to 20 years in prison for manslaughter and assault, failed to show remorse for her actions. For 32 days, Jallen suffered continuous abuse under what Booker termed 'Cousins Boot Camp', revealing the severe mistreatment faced by vulnerable individuals in caretaking situations.
I'm still waiting for a phone call to hear, 'Hey, Sis, I miss you,' said Mykarsha Rogers, expressing her ongoing grief for her brother Jallen.
She readily agreed to be his caretaker but instead was his executioner, seethed Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg during sentencing.
[Booker] took perverse pleasure in torturing Jallen for a month before his death... he was repeatedly physically and mentally tortured under Booker's 'twisted' care.
The cruel cousin did not apologize in court... only telling the judge before her sentencing, 'I appreciate you, and thank you for whatever you impose.'
