NYC DEP Launches Citywide Upgrade of Water Meter Reading Devices
Briefly

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection announced a three-year program to upgrade over 600,000 Automatic Meter Reading devices to improve water monitoring and service.
The initiative begins in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and focuses on enhancing real-time monitoring, leak detection, and accurate water use readings without cost to property owners.
Technicians will not require appointments for most exterior installations; however, access to interior devices requires property owners to schedule an appointment via a letter.
Contractors will be identifiable by uniforms and vehicles, and they may need to temporarily move objects to access AMR devices, ensuring restoration of the area post-service.
