Major crimes in NYC decreased in May compared to last year, but robberies and felony assaults surged due to illegal e-bikes. Transit crime decreased, while antisemitic incidents rose.
Murders have declined by 17.1% year to date, with 29 fewer people killed in 2024 than last year. Shootings increased by almost 5% last month but decreased by almost 13% year-to-date. Robberies increased by nearly 5% in May.
